www.vernissage.tv | German painter Gerhard Richter is one of the most important artists of our time. His works are represented in all the important museums and collections. So it’s no surprise that apart from the lenders a lot of major collectors and art professionals such as Sam Keller, Erich Marx, Klaus Staeck, Alfred Paquement, Armin Zweite, Peter Weibel, and Kasper König attended the opening reception of the exhibition “Gerhard Richter. Paintings from Private Collections” at Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden. At the Frieder Burda Museum in Baden-Baden, approximately sixty works from important private collections — Böckmann (Berlin), Ströher (Darmstadt) and Frieder Burda, complemented by works in the artist’s own possession — offer a look at more than forty years of painting that reflects on both the history of post-war Germany and on the medium of painting. Impressions from the opening with brief excerpts from the speeches of Frieder Burda and Norbert Lammert, President of the German Bundestag, January 18, 2008. A catalogue is available Gerhard Richter. Bilder aus privaten Sammlungen. @RayL1983 A succulent business meeting, maybe that’s what excites them.
Boring, pretentious rubbish. You can just image what degree of tedium these people must suffer in their lives if they can find this rubbish stimulating.
Buenisimo!
What is this crap doing in a section of videos on Photorealism?
Each one of Richter ‘s paintings is like a symphony – multi-layered, rich in emotion and full of surprises. I am at awe of his genius and productivity! An absolute living icon! Tsvetana Yvanova, Artist
His work is not “empty postmodern pastiche,” as you say. When you see these works individually in real life, that is outsider assessment will be wiped clean by the experience. That’s a promise for the open-minded.
There’s nothing new here. Everyone who came before him did it, and did it better.
Richter is clearly an excellent painter, but the art world is pumped full of shit, so one should be wary of the claims that it makes for him.
fantastic artist at ease with his medium and concepts.
i’m sure there are some great theories used to justify his dabbling in various popular styles of painting, but that won’t sway the fact that it is all just empty postmodern pastiche. his popularity in the art world means nothing. knowing the right people and having a marketable image is all that it takes.
i agree w/ mojandoelperrito…
richter’s work is all postmodern pastiche
Bitter.
it seems that he presented works in different styles, starting from pop art to the abstract, kandinsky-like paintings..actually nothing revolutionary new and unique can bee seen, except of some interesting paintings that remind me of Pavel Filonov’s art
do you realize how ignorant you appear writing such a stupid comment as yours?
Try learning something about art. Maybe then you’ll understand.
hahaha touche´
So much reverence for this patetic burguoise pleasing fake.
the best painter a live !
No love for some Jenny Saville?
I love his work!
It seems to me obvious and indeed well nigh-nigh incontrovertible that Righter is the world’s greatest living artist.
My favorite painter since i saw his book back in 1993. A Truly underated artist here in the UK… but then again he would be as most UK modern painters suck.
If anyone knows how I might get in touch with Gerhard Richter, please send me a private message.
I would merely like to ask him a couple of very brief questions about his technique.
was that blonde chick G’s wifey?
